This photo was taken on October 18, 2002 by Officer William Wright

during a personal injury accident investigation in which the driver of the

vehicle struck a tree head on and along with the passengers fled the scene.

It has been reported the image on the sidewalk at left is

an apparition of a past Town Marshal, walking with nightstick in hand, 

keeping the town’s streets safe with his ever vigilant foot patrols.

Interestingly enough, as reported by individuals that knew him, 

the Marshal would whistle as he walked the streets around town.  

It has even been reported by a Danville Police Officer who lives near this 

intersection that late at night on a warm summer's eve with his house 

windows open, he has personally heard the dutiful Marshal’s footsteps 

keeping stride with his melodious whistling as he completes his eternal rounds.
